Deleted scene from The Incredible Hulk reveals... Captain America!!! Oct 13, 2008 jrfoldes Other Well it is pretty clear from Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk that The Avengers movie is forthcoming, but what The Avengers without Captain America. Spoilers have already revealed Cap's shield in Iron Man, but was he in The Incredible Hulk Yes and no. The alternate opening to the movie (which will be available on the DVD) has a hidden Easter Egg of The Star-Spangled Avenger. If you look really closely at the photo you can see Cap's shield. It's about 2/3s down near center. In comic conitinuity Captain America was a super soldier who was active during World War 2. Near the end of the war he was frozen in the Artic, only to be found and reanimated by the Avengers decades later. Needless to say this still will have fans drooling until both The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers is released in 2011.
Mel Gibson Passes on Lethal Weapon 5? Oct 13, 2008 mpreyes78 Other The Los Angeles Times spoke to 78-year-old Richard Donner, director and producer of all four "Lethal Weapon" movies, about the proposed Lethal Weapon 5. While Donner isn't involved with the movie, earlier this year it was reported that screenwriter Shane Black and producer Joel Silver were working on a fifth installment of the franchise. Then, last week, actor Columbus Short revealed that he is in talks to play Murtaugh's (Danny Glover) son in the film. Here are a few of Donner's quotes: "Mel turned it down," Donner said. "I would like to think that Mel turned it down because I wasn't involved. Knowing Mel, I would like to think that. Would that be the kind of thing he does? It sure would be." "It's too bad, actually, because Channing Gibson, who wrote the fourth one, and Mike Riva, a designer on three of them, and myself and Derek [Hoffman, an associate at The Donner Company] had an incredibly strong story for the fifth movie. But we weren't given the opportunity and I think maybe I could have convinced Mel to do it. But Warners chose to go with Joel Silver." "Yes, the project is pretty much dead in the water unless someone had the sense to come to me." You can read the full article The here. What do you think? Is the project dead without Mel Gibson?
Sam Raimi Gets Back To His Horror Roots With 'Drag Me To Hell' Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other With summer blockbusters behind him for now, Raimi gives us the gory details on his new flick During all the hoopla surrounding "Spider-Man" and its two sequels — the record-breaking openings and grosses and the talk of new villains and comic characters — chatter among true aficionados inevitably turned to some of the movies' more grotesque moments, such as Doc Ock waking up in a hospital, for instance, or his wife getting cut by thousands of shards of glass. People wondered: Wouldn't it be great if director Sam Raimi left the bloated budgets behind and returned to his horror roots? It turns out that Sam Raimi was thinking the same thing. "I really wanted to make this picture because I wanted to get back to making a lower-budget film — something that really connects with the audience on a visual level," the director told MTV News at Comic-Con about his newest flick, a horror movie called "Drag Me to Hell." "I wanted to get down and dirty a little bit more this time." The flick — Raimi's first foray into horror since 1992's "Army of Darkness" — follows an ambitious loan officer (Alison Lohman) who becomes the target of a malicious curse after foreclosing on a loan to an old woman. It's a downright simple setup free from intricacies of character or plot that allows Raimi to subject his characters to all manner of torture in the name of thrills, including such pleasant images as a woman puking maggots and flies going up noses. ("The fly is sort of like symbolizing her curse," co-star Justin Long pointed out. "And it's just disturbing. It's really just off-putting.") It's a method he's perfected on other horror movies, Raimi said, where the plot is just a pole on which to hang the scares. "I like the simple thrills of making a movie that makes audiences go, 'Ahh!' and scream. And I like saying, 'Boo!' to the audience. I like constructing simple suspense sequences, and I think they work on the audience," he said. "It's kind of like real simple storytelling, making a horror film — working with audience expectation or delivering the punch line or the scare, or holding back on the punch line or the scare at the right moment." Watching Raimi in his element is a beautiful thing, say the flick's stars — especially when it isn't beautiful. "Old-school Sam Raimi — really, really exciting," Long said.
'Twilight' Trailer Reactions: Some Fans Are Still Speechless, Others Just Can't Breathe Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Twilighters may have worn out their exclamation-point keys with responses to the movie's third and final trailer. As soon as the third and final "Twilight" trailer made its way to MTV News on Thursday, Twilighters reacted in droves. Most fans, like Esther, found the trailer to be "made of awesome!!!!!!!!" and can't wait for the film's November 21 release. A lot of the comments in Larry Carroll's shot-by-shot analysisand in the MTV Movies blog contained multiple OMEs and ahhhs, but it seems that most Twilighters couldn't find the words to describe just how great they though the trailer was. Stargirl could hardly contain her excitement for the trailer, writing, "I've always liked to think that I am a very articulate speaker, even when things of great excitement and importance happen. However, in light of this recent trailer, I must depart from this standard of writing. AHHHHHH!!!!!! Oh, my gosh!!!! I cannot believe that trailer!!! It is by far the best one yet!!" "This trailer is so good that I can't even spell," Elaine added. It's rather difficult to transcribe most of the screams and gasps from the videos fans uploaded on YouRHere. But a few managed to calm down enough to speak. "I must say how excited I am to see this movie," Stephanie Briskey said in her video. "My heart is clenching in agony thanks to trailer number three. The cast is phenomenal. I love this book! Stephenie Meyer is amazing!" Emsters326 didn't want to wake up everyone in her house, so she whispered her commentary. "That was unbelievable," she said. "I am speechless right now. I had to bite my hand so I wouldn't scream. ... I am at a total loss for words. This movie is going to be amazing." Back in the blog, Alexandra described her very physical reaction to the film's trailer. "I stopped breathing. Like really actually stopped," she said. "I think it's because I forgot how to. That has never happened to me before with a movie, let alone a TRAILER. Wow. Just woww. Everything I hoped for and wayyyyyyy more." "I had goose bumps watching it the first time," Ashwo915 wrote. "And the second, third, fourth ... and yeah, the million times I've watched it. Love the kiss, love the apple part, love everything. I cannot wait for November 21!" "I could not breathe. The trailer is utterly amazing," Mandy said. "This just makes me more anxious to see the movie." Cullenista described an even more visceral response: "I think my heart stopped (or should I say spluttered?); then when it started up again, it was pounding in my ears. My word! A fantastic trailer. I was going to see the movie for absolute sure, but now I can't believe how far away November 21 actually is. WOW! Wow! WOW!!!" Try as we did, we were hard-pressed to find any negative reactions to the trailer. But in the face of such enthusiasm, does anyone dare?
Tina Fey On Sarah Palin: “If She Wins, I’m Leaving The Planet!” Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Tina Fey opens up about spoofing Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin in the October 20 issue of TV Guide. While she’s having a great time playing Palin on Saturday Night Live, the Emmy-winning comedienne isn’t sure she’s such a big fan of the Alaska governor’s politics. “If she wins, I’m done. I can’t do that for four years. And by ‘I’m done,’ I mean I’m leaving Earth,” Fey tells the mag. “Election time is always good for [SNL] and this is a bonkers election. And that lady is a media star,” says the star of NBC’s 30 Rock. “[Palin] is a fascinating person, she’s very likeable. She’s fun to play, and the two bits with Amy [Poehler], that was super fun,” Tina added.
Samuel Bartley Steele Bon Jovi $400 Billion Lawsuit (”I Love This Town”) Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Iconic rock band Bon Jovi is being sued for a whooping $400 billion by a Massachusetts-based musician who has accused band frontman Jon Bon Jovi of stealing his lyrics. Samuel Bartley Steele claims Bon Jovi plagiarized his 2004 song “(Man I Really) Love This Team” to create their single “I Love This Town.” “I know I’m the little fish and they’re the big fish, but they f**ked with the wrong piranha. I want credit, acknowledgement and an apology. I know that I’m right,” Bartley told the Boston Herald Monday.
“The Road” Behind The Scenes Oct 13, 2008 soundfood Other Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen, Academy Award winners Robert Duvall and Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and 12-year-old Kodi Smit McPhee star in the big-screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s best-selling, Pulitzer Prize-winning post-apocalyptic novel, “The Road”
Poll: So What About That New 'Twilight' Trailer? Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Late last week, a new well-edited, well-scored Twilight trailer arrived online and folks went nutty for it. Having been away in the middle of the woods for the past few days, I just checked it out a few minutes ago for the first time, and I'll say they definitely did a bang-up job teasing in the adolescent boys looking for a little fight in their vampire flicks. Yeah, there's a love story somewhere inside this 90210-with-fangs, but it sure as heck doesn't drown our latest piece of sizzle. (Note: We were just told Twilight will have a final run time of 120 minutes and will be rated PG-13.) Look, whether you want to admit it or not, young females and their moms are the predominant audience for Twilight. They're buying the books, they're running the giant Twilight fan sites and it's their opinion that really matters. (Note: I'm aware there are male fans of Twilight -- and more power to them -- but understand I'm just pointing out the fact that they're in the minority here.) So I'm wondering a few things after checking out the latest trailer -- like, did it bring in any new fans, male or female? Was Twilight's core female audience turned off by the new trailer because it didn't feature more of the love story? Did the score make it seem too creepy and horror movie-ish? Is that the tone you want? This puppy gets two polls below (feel free to watch the trailer again after the jump), and don't be afraid to spill your feeling over into the comments section. For Non Fans: Does New 'Twilight' Trailer Make You Want to See the Film? Hell yes!Nah, looks kinda lameI'll wait until the awesome people at Cinematical review itVote For Fans: Was this latest trailer too action heavy? Yes, we want more love story! No, I thought it was perfect!I thought it was too light on the action, personallyVote
Renee Zellweger: 'I'm No Fashion Icon' Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Renee Zellweger laughs at her status as a fashion icon -- because she only ever dresses up for red carpet events. The Bridget Jones's Diary actress is regarded as one of the most stylish women in the world. But she only puts her glad rags on "when it counts" and remains a "mess" the rest of the time. She explains, "I dress up for premieres, when it counts and it's fun. Otherwise I'm in my old sweat pants or jeans and a t-shirt. Not so stylish."
Katy Perry MTV Europe Music Awards Host 2008 Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Katy Perry will host the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards live from Liverpool next month. The “I Kissed A Girl” singer has been tapped to front the ceremony at the Echo Arena on November 6. Katy is the “perfect” choice to host this year’s show, says MTV EMA executive producer Richard Godfrey. Katy couldn’t be happier to be hosting one of Music Television’s biggest nights. “I was so excited when I heard that I was nominated for two awards, but when I was asked to host the show I wet myself, Fergie-style!” “To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg at this prestigious event is an incredible honour - do they know what they are getting into? I just hope that I don’t spill my cocktail!”
Will Smith's Official "Seven Pounds" Trailer713 Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other The trailer for the upcoming Will Smith drama "Seven Pounds" leaked onto the internet about two weeks ago, causing Sony Pictures to ask us to take it down. Today, the official trailer has been released, which features a few edits. You can check it out by clicking on the link below. The story centers on a man who inadvertently falls in love while attempting to kill himself. Rosario Dawson will play a love interest who suffers from a serious heart condition. Woody Harrelson will portray a motel attendant who becomes intrigued by his suicidal new tenant. "Seven Pounds" is directed by Gabriele Muccino, who worked with Smith on the 2006 "The Pursuit of Happyness." The new movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 19th.
LOL: Product Placement Movie Posters Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other What if movie posters were more honest? What if the theatrical one-sheet wasn’t filled with floating heads of the main stars, but instead featured all the brand tie-ins and product placements up-front? The Antrepo Design team created a set of vancas posts which are just that. I somehow doubt Hollywood will pick up on this concept. Now if only they would’ve created a poster for Michael Bay’s The Island… Although for that film, I have a feeling that all the product tie-ins wouldn’t be able to fit on one normal sized poster.
On The Set With Watson And Holmes Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Attention ladies, gay men, and anyone who appreciates sartorial hotness. Just Jared has gotten its hands on another set of photos from the Sherlock Holmes set, and this time they include Jude Law in costume as Dr. Watson. Robert Downey Jr. is also on the set, and far from being dressed like a stylish hobo as he was in the last set, this time he's in simple Victorian-era menswear. He and Jude Law look like bartenders in the Old West, and I couldn't be happier. Check out a few of the photos below, and see the full gallery of about 10 photos at Just Jared. There's still no information about what the movie will be about, but who needs plot when you have Jude Law wearing suspenders?
Sharon Osbourne's Kidman rant Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Sharon Osbourne has attacked Nicole Kidman - saying she has a forehead "like a flat screen TV". The outspoken 'America's Got Talent' judge launched a tirade against the actress while hitting out at celebrities who refuse to admit to having plastic surgery, branding them "lying b***hes". Sharon - who admits she has spent over £300,000 on cosmetic procedures - ranted on US talk show 'Chelsea Lately': "Oh my god! Those liars, I hate them, those b***hes. They go, 'Oh no, I wouldn't do anything.' Meanwhile, their eyebrows are here. "Nicole Kidman's forehead looks like aflat screen TV - how big is that forehead? "If something bothers you, it doesn't make you happy, then change it. What's the deal? I don't get what the mystique is, why people lie about it." Although experts have previously described Nicole, 40, as an "enthusiastic" user of Botox - which helps to smooth skin and reduce wrinkles - Nicole has always denied having any procedures. She said recently: "To be honest, I am completely natural. I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen and I don't smoke. I take care of myself and I'm very proud to say that."
Depp voted 'world's sexiest man' Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Johnny Depp has been voted the ultimate heartthrob in a poll of the world's 25 sexiest men. The 45-year-old Pirates Of The Caribbean star took first place in the Cosmopolitan survey, followed by George Clooney and Jake Gyllenhaal. The honour comes just months after Depp was voted Britain's favourite actor in a separate poll. James Bond star Daniel Craig took fourth place, with Brad Pitt coming in fifth. Also making the top half of the list were James McAvoy, Justin Timberlake, Will Smith, David Beckham, Wentworth Miller, Christian Bale and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Politicians David Cameron and David Milliband failed to score in the reader's survey, which can be read in the November issue of the magazine.
Angelina Jolie Wants At Least One More Kid Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other The pictures taken of a very candid Angelina Jolie in W magazine were snapped by her partner Brad Pitt. This includes the photo of a smiling Jolie breastfeeding one of her two newborn twins that graced the cover. Angie said she wasn't nervous to be photographed so intimately after the birth of her twins. "I'm with a man who's evolved enough to look at my body and see it as more beautiful, because of the journey it has taken and what it has created," in her interview with the magazine. Angelina also indicated that she and Brad would like at least one more child and of course, Jolie chatted up her most recent movie Changeling. The idea of child abduction is an especially chilling on to the mother of six. "I love Brad, and he loves me, but something happening to the kids..." And on that ominous note, here are some pictures of Angie from the interview!
Hugh Jackman Totes A Six-Pack To The Beach Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Don't worry about the Australian actor accidentally leaving any glass bottles behind in the sand. We're talking about the abdominal muscles the X-men star was flashing on Bronte Beach in Sydney, Australia. At the ripe old age of forty, Hugh Jackman is sporting a physique that his wife Deborra Lee-Furness assuredly appreciates. Jackman enjoyed a day out on the beach with his family and after a dip in the water and then the gang hit up the Royal Motor Yacht Club for some poolside brunch. Water-loving Hugh recently enjoyed a surprise 40th birthday party thrown for him by his loving wife. If you're married to a hot piece like Hugh, you tend to throw lots of bashes to demonstrate just how much you appreciate them and their hotness. Happy Columbus Day, Hugh! I rented a stadium and am shooting off fireworks while paying Elton John by the hour in diamonds to serenade you. Your abs are like a candle in the wind!
Victoria Beckham's Audrey Hepburn Impersonation Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Style-conscious Spice Girl Victoria Beckham stepped out in an outfit that appears to be a Holly Golightly-inspired look she's wearing to drop the kids off at school. After seeing the kids off, Mrs. David Beckham hopped over to the LAX airport for a London-bound flight. She's a busy woman! The fragance-selling footballer's wife is probably starting her tour of the world to hunt down the next big anti-aging fad. She probably asked her play-date buddy Gwen Stefani to pick up some pumpkins for her at the local patch. I can't imagine Victoria would ever be caught dead within 50 feet of something that could possibly be described as "rustic."
Reese Witherspoon & Jake Gyllenhaal Welcome Fall Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Cozy couple Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal revel in the cool weather of the fall season by doning some wintry outfits and walking in London with cups of hot coffee in their hands. Gyllenhaal has been in the city for the filming of his first epic film Prince of Persia. It was recently reported that Jake's parents are splitting and that he and Reese are planning are rushing their wedding plans in order to distract from the news of the split. Ha! Maybe his parents are just faking a divorce in order to get his ass married off. Stranger things have happened. In any case, the couple seem to be enjoying the hell out of each other's company laughing and sipping on their hot drinks as they shop at the Myla lingerie store where Jake got to pick out a new pair of panties.
Vanessa Hudgens attacked Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Vanessa Hudgens claims she was attacked last week, not Zac Efron. The 'High School Musical' stars - who are enjoying an off-screen romance - were leaving London's Apollo theatre last Wednesday (08.10.08) when a man in his 40s pushed past security to approach the pair. Although it had been reported he lunged for Zac, 20, his 19-year-old girlfriend insists the unnamed man cut her face. She told US TV show 'Access Hollywood': "I actually got hit in the face! If anything, I was the one who got attacked, not Zac. "There was a guy who was walking down the street and I think he was a little drunk and he got pushed into the craziness of it all. He was blocking the door so our bodyguard had to push him aside. "I looked in the mirror and got a huge scratch and I was bleeding." Zac has revealed he wasn't even aware of the attack until they returned to their waiting car. He said: "I just heard about it. I was just focused on the van door - I've got to get to it. I got in the van and we drove away. I don't remember getting harassed."

Frank Darabont Stops Abiding The Law Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other It was just last week that we first reported on Law Abiding Citizen, a movie written by Frank Darabont that is set to star Jamie Foxx as a man who gets his revenge on the men who killed his wife and daughter. Now Ain't It Cool has it from Darabont himself that he's not involved in the project at all, and apparently bad blood is to blame. Their scooper Elston Gunn wrote in to say that Darabont is out of the project-- "And I mean really out. It apparently ended ugly." Some explanation may come from CHUD, which pointed out the discrepancy between the plots of the movie that was announced last week and an earlier version. They say the original trade write-ups described the movie as being about "a criminal mastermind who controls a city from the confines of his prison cell." But last week, Foxx's character was described as a grieving father who, yes, is a murderer, but is only killing those who deserve it. So is Darabont, who has been known for sticking to his guns in the past, ditching a project that veered away from his original idea and went for sentimentality instead? It'll be interesting if someone tracks down an original version of Darabont's script and can compare it to the finished product. It'll be like Darabont's Indiana Jones script, part two!
Carla Gugino is a Cheater Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Variety reports that Carla Guigino, who recently co-starred in the Pacino/De Niro stinker Richeous Kill, is set to play the mistress of Liev Schreiber in a movie titled Every Day. Aside from her recurring role in Entorage, Guigino’s star hasn’t exactly risen lately. It is exciting to see that she is landing meaty roles that will utilize the power that she brings to the screen. As reported in Variety, in Every Day, Gugino will act alongside Schreiber, with Helen Hunt playing his disgruntled wife. Richard Levine, of Nip Tuck, will write and direct, with Miranda Bailey and Mattew leutwyler producing under Ambush Entertainment. You might remember Gugino from her meaty role in the Frank Miller comic book-based Sin City, in which she plays an angry lesbian cop who gets buck naked. Maybe the latter is what hurt her chances at becoming a huge star? Then again, maybe it was Spy Kids that really killed her potential stardom. But, according to IMDB, Guigino has five movies in production and one in the can. With Watchmen impending, and Gugino playing a lead part, it sounds like she will be everywhere in 2009. I hope she’s ready for her close up.
Weekend Box Office - Chihuahua's Revenge Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other If you need proof that America's economy isn't completely in the toilet just take a look at where we're spending our money. Following a week where the stock market had a major sell off the great people of America still scraped together nearly $18 million to actually pay to watch a movie about talking chihuahuas. That's right, an hour and a half long Taco Bell commercial took the number one spot yet again making it two weekends in a row that the rat dogs have been on top. It was one thing when they were bumping off competition like Nick and Norah. This week they've trumped bigger names like Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe. That's a little harder to accept. Ridley's latest action thriller, which stars Crowe as well as Leonardo DiCaprio, only made it to the number three spot with $13 million. With a $70 million budget it's going to have to rely on Crowe's popularity abroad to make payroll. Two other new movies out this weekend would have been dancing in the streets for that kind of failure. Dennis Quaid's The Express, the latest feel good sports film on the market, fell shy of $5 million, failing to come anywhere close to having any hopes to make back its $40 million budget. City of Ember fared even more poorly, earning less than $4 million against a cost of $38 million. The only new movie to come out this weekend that didn't suffer under the curse of the chihuahua was horror flick Quarantine. Thanks to non-multi-million dollar cast salaries and a premise the kept the location to a single run-down apartment building, it only cost $12 million to make. In the number two spot it made over $14 million. October is a good month for cheap scary movies and if the Saw series is any indication we can probably look for Quarantine 2 this time next year.
Two Video Clips from The Wrestler Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Film reader Nick O. forwarded me these clips from Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. The first clip shows a scene between Mickey Rourke and Evan Rachel Wood, who play’s Randy’s estranged daughter. Rourke has been getting Best Actor Award Nomination buzz since the film premiered in Venice.
First "Punisher: War Zone" Clip Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Lionsgate has released the first clip from the upcoming R-rated "Punisher: War Zone." The clip features an introduction by director Lexi Alexander (Hooligans) and features a scene in which Frank Castle unleashes a barrage of bullets on countless bad guys. Plot: Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss, Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the "Punisher Task Force" hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished. "Punisher: War Zone" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 5th.
First Look: Jean-Claude Van Damme's "Full Love" Oct 13, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Jean-Claude Van Damme is coming back in a big way. He has "JCVD" coming out next month, which was considered one of the best movies at the Toronto Film Festival, and now he is working on a new project entitled "Full Love." Very little is known about "Love," other than it was shot in Thailand and is very personal for Van Damme, who is writing and directing the picture. Van Damme earlier described it as being "based on a true story, based in another reality. [It is] about love, friendship, and dedication." Thanks to TwitchFilm, we have five shots from the film. Click on the links below to see pictures of Van Damme and his two kids, Kristopher and Bianca Van Varenberg, who are also in the movie.

Jolie buys knife for 6 year old Maddox Oct 13, 2008 Jenn90West Other From Entertainmentwise.com Angelina Jolie has bought her six-year-old adopted son Maddox his first knife. The Tomb Raider star says she purchased a blade for her son because she wants to educate him about the dangers and benefits of having a weapon around. She tells W magazine, "We take him to a special shop. We also talk about Samurais and the idea about defending someone as good. We talk about everything." The mum-of-six reveals she took the decision to arm the youngster because she went knife shopping with her own mother at the age of 11.
Remember the Time When M. Night Shyamalan Meant Something? Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Oh man. If The Lady in the Water didn’t steer you clear, then The Happening must have. Seriously, the man has run his course, and until he corrects himself, it’s going to be hard to take anything he does seriously. But that shows what can happen in nine years. There was a time, not that long ago, where people were looking forward to everything M. Night Shyamalan did because The Sixth Sense worked like fucking gangbusters. And it still does, it’s just a well made, well conceived piece of Hollywood filmmaking. It works, and please don’t deny it. Bruce Willis stars as Dr. Malcolm Crowe, a psychiatrist whose marriage with Anna (Olivia Williams) is falling apart, and has a psychotic patient. He begins treating Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), who’s having a hard time because he’s seeing ghosts, and it alienates him from his mother Lynn (Toni Collette), who’s struggling with being a single mom with a weird child. Once Malcolm believes Cole, they go about helping ghosts deal with their traumatic deaths by resolving their issues, which sends them on to the next level. Everything about this film was a sucker-punch, and a brilliant one at that. You couldn’t count on Bruce Willis to deliver a good film, you had no idea who MNS was, it was a fucking Hollywood Pictures release (“if it’s the Sphinx, it stinks!”) And yet this film still delivers. I think partly because the character work is good, and Shyamalan is working with Frank Marhsall and Kathleen Kennedy. Once the man became a wunderkind, he wasn’t working with people who were creatively working against him to better the product. And so since you’ve seen films that don’t work as well because there isn’t that inherent humanity, and no one’s telling him to change what he’s doing. Obviously, the last two pictures show that in great magnitude, but here, here is why people still have hope for this filmmaker. Hell, I do, and I’ve seen The Happening and The Lady in the Water. And baggage or whatever, The Sixth Sense is a well told tale, and still one of the highlights of 1999’s impressive lineup. There’s no reason to disparage the work of anyone here, from Osment’s preternatural performance, to Willis’ subdued but excellent doct, to Collette, to everyone in between. Hell, even Mischa Barton shows up in this and is good. The Blu-ray release offers nothing special all things considered, except a uncompressed 5.1 track, along with the standard 5.1 Dolby Digital. Extras include “Reflections from the Set” (39 min.), which talks to the stars and M. Night about the movie, while “Between Two Worlds” (37 min.) talks to the supernatural elements of the movie… “Moving Pictures: The Storyboard Process” (15 min.) goes into how Shyamalan prepared to make the film by showing his extensive boarding, while “Music and Sound” (7 min.) gives M. Night a chance to sit with composer James Newton Howard (a champion on this film) to talk about the score and the aural work of the movie, while “Reaching the Audience” (4 min.) speaks to the film being a huge hit. “Rules and Clues” (6 min.) talks to the second viewing experience and how to decode some things, while there’s also five deleted scenes (15 min.), and the theatrical trailer and two TV spots.
Jolie: Obama win would be 'nice' for family Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Angelina Jolie isn't giving away who she's backing in the U.S. presidential election, but she does have good things to say about Barack Obama. The actress and activist tells the German edition of Vanity Fair that the Democratic contender for president comes down on the same side of several issues that she does. Asked if she finds Obama and his background an example to her family, she replies, "Naturally that's good, but it's not a sufficient reason to vote for him. "Obama fights for international justice, he wants to militarily intervene in cases of genocide, and close Guantanamo Bay. These are the things that could move me to vote for him, not his roots." She then adds, "Naturally, an American president like Barack Obama would be nice for my family." Jolie and actor Brad Pitt are parents to six children, three of whom were adopted from other nations Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam. Obama's family similarly has members from different countries: his mother is American and his late father was Kenyan. Jolie's father, Jon Voight, has campaigned for Republican candidate John McCain.
Ridley Scott to helm 'Forever War' Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Rex Features Ridley Scott will direct an adaptation of Joe Haldeman’s 1974 novel The Forever War. The project marks the British filmmaker's return to the science fiction genre. He previously helmed Alien in 1979 and Blade Runner in 1982. The Forever War focuses on a soldier who fights an alien foe in outer space for several months and returns home to find 20 years have passed on Earth. Scott told Variety: "I first pursued Forever War 25 years ago, and the book has only grown more timely and relevant since. It's a science-fiction epic, a bit of The Odyssey by way of Blade Runner, built upon a brilliant, disorienting premise." Scott has spent two decades trying to secure the movie rights from special effects guru Richard Edlund, who picked up the option for the story after publication and intended to make it his directorial debut.
Craig: 'American would make better Bond' Oct 13, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other An American would make a better job of playing English secret agent James Bond than a British actor, according to Daniel Craig. The star, who takes on the role for a second time in Quantum Of Solace, commented that the British sense of self-mockery means that something about the character is lost. He added that his turn as the superspy could suffer as a result of his Britishness. "I am always trying to self-mock. I am trying to put it down or to laugh it off but you have got to be careful because false humility is not a great trait," he said. "Sometimes I wonder if it would be easier if I was American, because I am deeply English."

Clint Eastwood: 'Dirty Harry Gets a Raw Deal' Oct 12, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Clint Eastwood believes his classic Dirty Harry character gets a raw deal for being remembered as nothing more than a maniac cop. The Hollywood legend, 78, says his series of Harry Callaghan movies during the '70s and '80s should be remembered for their groundbreaking political content as well as dramatic shoot-outs. Clint -- whose latest movie, Changeling, stars Angelina Jolie -- reveals, "Dirty Harry was an adventure story but it also showed a tenacious police officer who wanted to fight against political bureaucracy all for the defense of the victim. "At that particular time, there weren't too many pictures made that concerned the victims of crime and so that picture drew a lot of attention. Although I have to say, it was great fun and it was a fantasy role: you point a 44 magnum at someone and say, 'Do you feel lucky'."
Quarantine Reviews Oct 12, 2008 soundfood Other The entire film is shot from one camera and basically works in real time. This heightens the tension and jump-ability factor but also ruins any real sense of characterization or serious emotional investment.
David Goyer Rubbishes Johnny Depp Riddler Rumors Oct 12, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Rumors that Johnny Depp will be stepping up to take on Batman in a Dark Knight sequel are all "bulls**t", according to one of the movie's main men. David Goyer, who co-wrote Dark Knight with director Christopher Nolan, is insisting the Pirates of The Caribbean hunk is not being considered to play The Riddler in a new Batman movie, and that so far none of the speculation on the sequel has been anywhere near the truth. He says, "It's all bulls**t. Chris and I haven't even talked about a third movie. "He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself. We have mused here and there but Chris is pretty much a one-movie-at-a-time kind of guy. "I wish I could tell you more. There really isn't anything to tell."
The Fighter: Pitt Out; Wahlberg Worried; Location Scouting Oct 12, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a concrete update on Darren Aronofsky’s The Fighter, the real-life story of boxer “Irish” Micky Ward’s (to be played by Mark Wahlberg) unlikely road to the world lightweight title. His Rocky-like rise was guided by half-brother Dicky (Brad Pitt), a boxer-turned-trainer who rebounded in life after nearly being KO’d by drugs and crime. When we talked with director Darren Aronofsky last month, we got the impression that The Fighter might not be happening. It wasn’t anything Aronofsky said in particular, but what he didn’t say, and how he said it “We have a beautiful screenplay. It’s based on, you probably know, Mickey Ward. It’s a great great project. As I told you I love sports movies. Rudy and Chariots of Fire are some of my favorite films. Fighter is a great script. Scott Silver wrote it. He’s the guy who wrote Eight Mile. So we have a great script, we’re just trying to cast it and try and figure out how it’s going to get made,” said Aronofsky, later adding: “Mark is training. Mark’s totally gung-ho” … “It’s been in development so long there’s a lot of money against it already. They’re trying to figure that out but I’m ready to go on it.” Scott Silver is just the last on the long list of writers who have done work on the project. An older screenplay draft I have lists four writers: Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, Lewis Colick and Paul Attanasio. So when Aronofsky says “there’s a lot of money against it already” he means that Paramount has dished out a lot of money in the development of the film Wahlberg told MTV that an October shoot was planned, but that is no longer the case. It doesn’t sound good but Wahlberg isn’t giving up. He’s been training for the role for almost two years. The actor tells Coming Soon: “I’m so focused on “Fighter” and that’s not even happening so it’s all depressing. I’m just looking for the next thing. I’m always looking for the next thing. I’ve done three or four movies since I’ve been training for Fighter,” Wahlberg said, later adding: “They finally got the green light, now we have to figure out the cast thing. I’m going to meet with Darren Aronofsky on Tuesday in New York so we’ll see.” Am I the only one confused about what he jsut said? At first he says it isn’t happening, then five seconds later says that it got a greenlight, they just need to figure out casting and he’s meeting with Darren this week. The actor went on to say how he could “train for another six months and look like a world class fighter” giving the project more realism than probably any other Hollywood boxing project to date. Sounds like a case of mixed signals to me. But what exactly is the casting situation that Wahlberg is referring to? The Playlist just spoke with Aronofsky at the New York Film Festival, and the director reluctantly admitted that Brad Pitt is no longer involved with the project. “We’re having some problems casting it,” Aronofsky said. “We’ll see what happens.” Doesn’t exactly sound promising does it? Pitt joined the project last year, replacing Matt Damon, who had become too busy with other projects. And I’m willing to bet that Damon’s slate hasn’t cleared up much in the last 13 months. Ward is a key role with certain talent requirements. And from what I was told, Aronofsky is currently working to develop Robocop for MGM. But don’t count The Fighter out just yet. I have it on good authority that location supervisions from Paramount have been scouting out locations in Lowell Massachusetts over the last few weeks. They have been visiting bars, taverns and local gyms. So the big question is, why would they be doing location scouts if the film isn’t moving forward? There is so much good buzz about the script, and with Aronofsky’s The Wrestler garnering so much attention and even award buzz, you would think that Aronofsky would have his pick of talent for the upcoming project. You would also think that Paramount would be eager to push this film into production no matter how much money the film has racked up in development so far…
Jude Law as Dr. Watson — FIRST LOOK Oct 12, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Check out the first pictures of Jude Law as Dr. Watson, the sidekick to pipe-smoking sleuth Sherlock Holmes. (On Friday, we brought you the first pictures of RDJ as Sherlock Holmes.) “We’re going to try to introduce something we haven’t seen before, authentic to the narrative,” director Guy Ritchie has said of his new flick. “We’re trying to make this film fresh. We should have some good fight sequences.” He added, “My one concern was the accents but this is no longer the case. Robert Downey has the best English accent I’ve ever heard. Also Rachel McAdams is playing American (love interest Irene Adler), which is true to the books. Outside of that, Jude is obviously Brit. Robert was obviously going to be the big one, and we seem to have transcended that particular hurdle.”

Depp fan Vanessa Paradis Oct 12, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Vanessa Paradis wants to "mob" Johnny Depp. The singer says she understands why the actor - who she has been dating for 10 years - is desired by so many people because she still can't keep her hands off him. Vanessa, who has two children with Johnny, said: "I understand. I want to mob him all the time, I do. He's a very charming person. What can you do? It doesn't bother me. There's nothing I can do about it." The French star also revealed she already feels married to Johnny, and is no rush to make it official. She added to Britain's Elle magazine: "I love the romance of 'Let's get married' but then when you have it so perfect… I mean, I'm more married than anybody can be - we have two kids. Maybe one day
Action man Shia LaBeouf Oct 12, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Shia LaBeouf does "at least 400 push-ups" before shooting an action scene. The 22-year-old actor - who reprises his role as Sam Witwicky in 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen', due for release next year - follows a special routine before shooting an action sequence. He is quoted as saying: "I always do at least 400 push-ups to get pumped up and ready for an action scene. I love it!" Shia - who can soon be seen in CIA thriller 'Eagle Eye' - recently revealed he has found it difficult to come to terms with his fame, and still can't comprehend it when people recognise him. He said: "I kind of live in a fishbowl, but what people don't realise is that I'm not the only one. The irony is they say to me, 'I don't know how you can deal with being followed and recorded everywhere you go.' And while they're saying that they may be getting recorded."
Cameron Crowe’s Tropical Romantic Comedy Details Revealed Oct 12, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Back in June, we told you about Cameron Crowe’s next movie, an untitled romantic adventure comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Ben Stiller. Not much was publicly known about the project back then, so I thought we’d do an update. Ben Stiller stars as a 37-year-old disgraced US weapons consultant named Brian Gilcrest, who is disliked by most everyone. His only friend is a techie named Jeremy who lives in the caves of the Cheyenne Mountains, with wholm he’s only communicated by phone. As a response to aggression from China, Gilcrest is deployed to a dormant military base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of an advanced spy satellite. Together with the mission’s designated liaison officer Major Lisa Ng, he must secure the blessings of the native Hawaiian council before the launch. Gilcrest also gets a chance to meet with Tracy, the one woman who got away. On the island he discovers himself. So far, so good, right? Well, this is where things get a little worrisome for me. They are haunted by visions of the Hawaiian Gods, and are forced to throw a sacrifice into the erupting volcano. Yeah, sounds very Joe Versus the Volcano-ish if you ask me. Now you can understand why Crowe and crew were keeping the story under wraps. I have faith n Crowe to make the relationship stuff work, but I’m not too sure about the supernatural storyline. In my earlier post, I also commented that we can at least assume that the soundtrack will be cool. Why don’t we take a look at the preliminary line-up? “Don’t Be Shy” by Cat Stevens, “Elevation” by U2, “Prodigal Son” by The Rolling Stones, “Let’s Go Out Tonight” by The Blue Nile, “Pac-Man Fever” by Buckner & Garcia, “What’s New Pussycat” by Tom Jones, “Baba O’ Riley” by The Who, a bootleg instrumental of “She’s Leaving Home” by The Beatles and “Ribbon in The Sky” by Stevie Wonder. Production is set to begin in January 2009.
Big Directors Small Films: Christopher Nolan’s Doodlebug Oct 12, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other This is the first edition of a new regular feature on /Film. In Big Directors Small Films, we will take a look at the short films of Hollywood’s working filmmakers. This week we take a look at The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan’s surreal 1997 short film Doodlebug. “A man waits patiently in his apartment to squash a bug, but he could be hurting himself more than he realizes.” Produced for almost nothing by future wife and producing partner Emma Thomas, Nolan shot the 3-minute-long movie on 16mm black and white film while he was studying English literature in London. The film stars Jeremy Theobald, the star and producer of Nolan’s 1998 debut feature film Following (Theobald has a cameo as a Gotham Water Board Technician in Batman Begins).
Mickey Rourke Sliced Own Head for "The Wrestler" Oct 12, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Mickey Rourke is a tough guy and the kind of actor that directors have been falling in love with. Part of his charm is his dedication to the role. [via ContactMusic] In his latest film "The Wrestler," he deliberately cut himself with a blade during a fight scene. He did this by tapping a razor blade to his wrist and sliced his face as the cameras rolled, to make his part more realistic. His co-star Wass Stevens tells the New York Daily News that Rourke took the drastic action after hearing how real-life fighters sometimes faked injury - to the delight of fans watching. Wass says, "So Mickey taped a blade to his forearm, and when the time was right, sliced his forehead."
